Maybe you want to discuss a little bit about what I've added in the Wiki regarding Social Software. Especially the last part of the text is important and the basic idea of steLLLa2.0 is close connected to this question.

I agree with you Volker. I am experiencing it this school year since I coach starting teachers. I offer them contact moments, which they need because they feel supported by the group, gathered every month. They are all starting teachers and they have the same needs, problems, ... which they like telling to each other. In supervision and intervision they listen to each other and learn from each other’s opinions. Besides, there is distance learning and it appears that they need both. The eLearning tasks can be carried out at home and they can choose the working moments themselves. I guide them by implementing deadlines and I reward the punctual learners. The advantage of learning at home is for some learners a criteria to follow this course. On the other hand, it is difficult for the cooperation sometimes when the group members don't all are as active and constructive. They need to be coached to use the platform in an efficient way and also to integrate all the opportunities into their own learning process. They are astonished that the online learning is so time consuming, although it is ‘hidden’ work because it is carried out at home, where colleagues and headmasters don’t see it. The learner also highly appreciates feedback after the lessons that I follow.
A combination of distance learning and contact moments; blended learning might offer a solution.
