The learning partnership steLLLa is funded by the European Commission Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) for general education. The main objective of LLP is to support learning opportunities from childhood to old age in every single life situation and precisely to build up a Europe of knowledge and thus provide a better response to the major challenges of this new century:

  • to promote lifelong learning,
  • encourage access to education for everybody,
  • and help people acquire recognised qualifications and skills.

In more specific terms, LLP seeks to promote language learning, and to encourage mobility and innovation.

LLP comprises four separate sub-programmes:

  • Comenius: school education
  • Erasmus: higher education
  • Leonardo da Vinci: vocational education and training
  • Grundtvig: adult education and other education pathways.

More detailed information can be found at

GRUNDTVIG is the sub-programme of LLP dedicated to adult education. Its aim is to improve the quality and strengthen the European dimension of adult education of a non-vocational nature by means of European cooperation activities of various kinds, thereby helping to make better lifelong learning opportunities more widely available to Europe's citizens. Through Grundtvig, the European Commission provides funding to promote exchanges of experiences and the development of a European dimension in all sectors of adult education.

More detailed information can be found at
and at the websites of the different national agencies.
