You can read about it in the "Events"-section. We (Beate, Steffi, Volker) were there, amoungst 150 other visitors, to represent ANOVA. We also presented the steLLLa project in a lecture given by Steffi. The Powerpoint file of it can be downloaded in the files section in the folder [steLLLa2.0 lectures]. The feedback we got was absolutely positive. It was our aim to produce some podcast episodes together and to show them also a lot about our life in our region. We had a very good time together with much learning but also nice moments of enjoying food, singing and relaxing. We discovered the way they use e-Learning by the use of Moodle, Webex, SMS, ... The two learners from Finland shared there experience with distance learning over the web. They took the opportunity : · enhance European dimension, discover the partners’ history, way of life, culture, educational systems · know the partner’s use of the web 2.0 · to know the French life style · meet the French and Lithuanian partners and exchange their experiences Philippe and the others tried their best to guarantee us a pleasant stay in Avignon. They chose different restaurants, places to visit and left some free time to relax or enjoy ourselves. They were really nice and we got on really well with one another, the French team and the Lithuanian team. The program included many opportunities to increase our knowledge and skills in many ways. This mobility allowed in particular to <ul style="text-align:justify;"><li>enhance European collaboration, European citizenship by transnational mobility’s to discover each other’s cultural, historical, economical and political situation </li> <li>learn to speak each others languages</li> <li>stimulate tolerance in Europe by discovering and understanding each others’ situation, by learning to have empathy.</li> </ul>The very warm welcome by the Greek host and very interseting presentations at the Research Academic Computer Technology Institute in Athens will remain in all the guests minds. The discovering of the Cycladic life is also a greatmoment of discovery that should mark for long. The awakening of the volcano Eyjafjallajökull on the way back gave a major boom to the use of SMS in the training process. The kick-off meeting is taking place between 22-25 February in Pafos, Cyprus. Partners from Greece, Ireland, England and Spain are participating. In addition, the University of Cyprus (Jack Burston and Yiola Papadopoulou) are partipicating in the project. This project is directly connected to our stellla2.0 project since it is going to examine Mobile learning. Also, all new partners were introduced to stellla2.0! This is the summary of the project: Language barriers between individuals of different ethnic groups living in the same country, or Europeans visiting other countries for business or pleasure, hinder natural interaction. Communication in a foreign language can hold back the development of friendships and closer relationships, thus preventing fruitful intercultural exchange and dialogue. Basic language knowledge of one’s conversational partner is usually appreciated and creates a comforting atmosphere. Today’s Europeans are too busy to attend a language class. Exploiting technology and especially the recently emerging developments in mobile learning could offer a viable alternative. Mobile phones are optimal learning tools that could enable people to learn any time, anywhere, and at their one own pace, even during leisure time. The proposed project applies Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) to support minority and/or less-frequently used and less-taught European languages (LWULT). The aim is to promote intercultural dialogue especially in former European conflict regions or regions with many minority groups through promotion of linguistic diversity. The focus is in Cyprus (Turkish), the Basque country (Basque), Northern Ireland (Gaelic), and within as well as around Greece (Albanian, Turkish). The project will develop the open-source mobile learning environment 'MobLang' in which users can design and publish their own prototype micro language courses. User specific micro courses will be embedded in a social and cultural context, which will include activities such as lectures, exercises, games, quizzes, as well as access to a live tutor. Main tasks during this meeting were to discuss the different activities in the project during the next 2 years and to find a work structure and methods for communication and cooperation between the partners. Of course the Finnish partner has prepared a lot of highlights to enable learning about the Finnish working and way of life.
